FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a yogi or super-spiritual or practice a specific religion to attend?

No! You don't need to subscribe to any specific spiritual practices to enjoy this retreat. All activities are beginner-friendly, and also optional. You get to decide what to participate in. What I hope to offer you is an opportunity to get away from your current life long enough to reconnect with yourself. You get to approach this time in the way that is most comfortable for your current belief systems or lack thereof!

Will I have alone time or time to explore the city on my own?

Yes, you will! The activities are well-spaced and also optional so that you have free range to decide how lazy or active your time is. You will be provided with an agenda of our activities upon arrival, as well as suggestions of places and things to explore. I'll also be easily accessible to answer any questions and to help you arrange logistics, like transportation.

I don't speak Spanish. Will this affect my trip negatively?

Well, it depends on your outlook. I'll be honest, when I first moved to Mexico I only had a basic grasp of Spanish from high school. I was a little nervous, but what I discovered was that words don't matter as much as we think when it comes to communication and I got way more intuitive in my approach to everyday life. That being said, I do currently have a strong upper-intermediate grasp of the language and so I am capable to support you with communication needs. Most of my partners are also bilingual. I would also suggest downloading a translation app for emergencies. In any case, I hope you might be able to see the language difference as part of the charm of your experience!

Are you and the town LGBTQ+ friendly?

YES! This retreat is open to ALL orientations and gender expressions. I have found this town to be very accepting as well. The energy of Querétaro is very warm, friendly, and safe. While I can't vouch for every human in the town, at the least you can expect that all of the locations and activities included in the retreat package are absolutely safe spaces for you to be you.

Will I have access to Wi-Fi and a laptop friendly work space?

Yep! The Wi-Fi at the accommodations is strong, fast, and reliable. While there are no work desks in the private rooms, there are tables in the shared salon that make for a delightful workspace.

Can I come with a friend or partner?

Certainly. You are free to travel with anyone you are comfortable sharing a bed with (limit to 2 people per room). The accommodations all have queen-sized beds. This is also a good way to receive a lower per person rate as you will each receive a discount if sharing a room. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions in this regard.

What about children?

This retreat is designed for adults and so has no special accommodation for children.

When is the next retreat and do you offer payment plans?

There are currently no other retreats planned. You will need to make a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your space in this retreat. I am happy to discuss specific payment plans if you so need, but all final payments must be made at least 3 months before the retreat start date.

Are discounts available?

Yes! Early-bird sign-ups receive a discounted rate. Be sure to place your deposit before the deadline!

What is your cancellation policy?

While the deposit is non-refundable, any following payments are refundable according to the following:

up to 4 months before your trip = 100% refund of balance payments

up to 2 months before your trip = 50% refund of balance payments

less than 2 months before your trip = 0% refund of balance payments

What happens if I need to cancel a retreat at the last minute for Covid-19 related reasons?

If you test positive for Covid-19 before the retreat or have to remain home to be a caretaker, I will offer a full refund up to 21 days before. If less than 21 days and before 14 days, I cannot offer a refund, however, I can transfer the amount of the retreat payment towards a future retreat, valid up to 2 years. Regrettably, I am unable to offer a refund for any cancellation made less than 14 days before the retreat start date.

What happens if you cancel the retreat.

In the unlikely event that I am not able to acquire a minimum number of guests, I reserve the right to cancel the retreat. If this happens, I will offer you a FULL refund, including your deposit.

Can you tell me about the safety precautions regarding health?

  • Due to the nature of the retreat, we will be a small group together (6-12 people), but maintain more distance and precautions than would otherwise be practiced. I want to uphold the environment and experience of an intimate retreat while ensuring we do not put each other, our Mexican hosts, any of our service providers during the retreat or transit, and any of your loved ones back home at risk.

  • Our accommodations and restaurants will be safely cleaned and cared for following national guidelines. Mexico has strict cleanliness guidelines and a high level of compliance in stores and public spaces.

  • Myself and all other hosts are required to deliver a negative Covid-19 test the week before the retreat start date.

  • One week before the retreat start date, all guests and attendees will be required to prove a negative Covid-19 test, at your own expense, or proof of full vaccination.

  • All hosts and attendees will be required to maintain the utmost safety from the time of their Covid-19 test, during transit and arrival into Santiago de Querétaro.

  • All attendees will practice safe measures before, during, and after our retreat together.

Surrounding Area

Located very close to Mexico City, in the northern-central region of the country, Querétaro is an excellent option for outdoor activities, discovering places that marked the history of Mexico, and taking your most intrepid side out amid the mountains. In the Historic Center of Santiago de Querétaro, the capital city, impressive buildings of viceregal style await you, among many other qualities, caused this beautiful city to be named Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Seasonal Information

July & August are mid-season and this is vacation time for many Mexicans and foreigners. This time has the most agreeable temperatures of the year; not too hot nor too cold. Daily temperatures range from a low of 58º F in the night to 80º F at the peak of the day. It's mostly dry, but with the occasional cooling rain showers, especially by mid-August.

Travel Recommendations (How to Get There)

The most cost-efficient way to get to Queretaro may be through Mexico City.

You can look into other options but my suggestion would be one of the following:

  1. Plane to Mexico City > Plane to Querétaro (1 hr) > Transfer to Accommodations (40 mins)

  2. Plane to Mexico City > Bus From Airport to Querétaro (3 hrs) > Transfer to Accommodations (10 mins)

Vaccinations Requirements (COVID-19 & Others)

(Last updated: June 5, 2021)
Mexico is open to travelers. There is no need to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival. Given the dynamic nature of issues related to Covid-19, I suggest checking for the most updated information related to travel to and from your country. American travelers should remember they will need a negative Covid-19 test result taken 72 hours or less before travel to return to the US. This test can be easily scheduled through https://salud-digna.org/ , an advanced nearby clinic. The appointment is made online ahead of time and takes only 10 minutes in person. Results are sent to your email within an hour of the test. I will be happy to arrange transportation for you to and from your appointment. I can also help you make the appointment.

There are no vaccinations required for entry to Mexico but short-term travelers are recommended to receive vaccination cover for Tetanus (childhood booster), Typhoid (food and water-borne), and Hepatitis A (food & waterborne). For those undertaking a trekking holiday (or those who will live in the region for some months) vaccinations for Mexico may include cover against Rabies (animal bites), Meningococcal Meningitis (airborne) and Hepatitis B (accidents) may need to be considered.
